My approach
Using the transformational model Internal Family Systems (IFS) I assist individuals to access their internal healing capacity. Substantive change and healing of deep wounds is possible within this model. Additionally, I utilize EMDR to assist in metabolizing of traumatic events. My theraputic approach is informed by a blend of the latest in trauma and neurobiological research as well as the wisdom of holistic approaches to healing.
I work with you to understand your unique experiences and the way that they have impacted your neurobiology and central nervous system. Using somatic approaches, you can begin to safely reconnect with your body to begin healing the trauma that has resulted in an overactive nervous system.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)
IFS is an evidenced-based, transformative model of psychotherapy. Dr. Richard Schwartz, trained as a family systems therapist, learned from his clients that we all have an internal system, much like a family system. In this system, we have many different 'parts'. Some of our parts have been pushed away because they hold pain (exiles), and other parts manage our lives so that we can function (protectors). But at the core, we all have a Self that is pure, unharmed, and innately capable of healing our systems. My main goal as therapist is to assist clients in finding their core Self to begin the healing journey. I hope you'll join me.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) |
EMDR is a robust therapy model that assists in the metabolizing of traumatic events. In EMDR, as the therapist, I use a structured approach to working with traumatic material while having the client engage in bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements or tapping).
